At the centre of our heart a soft flame burns.
and fearing a breath might put it out
we fold ourselves on ourselves,
keep it hidden, safe and sound.
Ah, but were we for once, just for once
to open up, invite all the world inside,
and sip a taste of its bitter sweet wine!
We would then discover that love is the wind
at which all-encompassing-touch
our heart-flame bursts and ignites,
that the harder it blows
the deeper the burning roots descend
until they permeate our whole heart,
becoming a sun living right inside our chest
and shining out into the world
the healing light we are.
