Free Verse # 167 (and I sailed far away)

Place your lips against mine
and play my mouth like a flute,
your tune and breath
quivering every fibre of my being,
every hair of my soul.

~

Night melts between my palms
into a river of dark wine
seething with stars.
This overflowing cup
I lift to your lips.
Drink, be drunk.

~

My diary of dreams,
a fluid flow of stars
shifting and churning and frothing
in the depth of your eyes.

~

There is no pinning you down,
no piercing into your essence,
no possessing you;
you are the ocean
ever breaking me-
wider, deeper,
into you.

~

Blowing from the east
the wind carries
the embers of your dawn,
impassioned kisses
she soaks into my eyelids,
rousing me, gently,
to pray…

~

A kiss
that pulls your heart
down from its roots
and hurls you,
mindlessly,
as a wave of intense heat
into your lover’s flesh.

~

My heartbeats ~
The wings of a hummingbird
Approaching your lips.

~

To the breath of your fire
I am drawn, shivering,
like grains of wheat budding tongues
to receive the endless flow
of your burning wine.

~

Mystic waters
shimmering liquid
under the crystal
surface of your eyes
and I, lost in meditation,
become a firebird-heart.

~

Your scent invaded my dreams,
crowned the dome of my night
with your nocturnal flower.

~

Like a forest of wild fire she burned,
and his touch made her fiery tongues shoot out
to lick the whole sky.

~

Sailing through the womb
of your endless sea,
the froth left behind
is our poetry.

~

Her eyes glimmer
like a black forest
with white jasmines
scattered here and there
like stars in the fur of night

~

She tempted me,
like the sea tempts
the natural born sailor
to meet the unknown
over immense waters.
She tempted me,
and I sailed far away.

~

Catching the flame’s breath
the moth recognizes her fate,
and so I, sensing your scent,
the gaze in your eyes,
feel the fire bud in my veins.
