Free Verse # 173 (her oceanic eyes)

Not sewed,
like two pieces of cloth
bound together from without,
but, like two colliding suns,
fused as one from within.

~

Your kiss,
a poison slowly seeping through my veins,
overwhelming me with a fever
from which I cannot be revived.

~

I sip you slowly like old wine
to feel you rise through my body,
a wave of melting warmth,
a torrential flood of desire replete with joy.

~

Sipping on hot coffee
while listening to the rain.
Ah, would that the cup were the red of your lips,
and the coffee the poetry flowing from within.

~

Lips bruised on kissing for so long,
so deep, so achingly,
bruised and bleeding all the shades of want.

~

It’s a dance for us two; its music weaved by our hearts.

~

Describing you,
all my words falter
and break from within;
the ineffable embodied,
the eternal flame
shivering and swaying,
you…

~

I became poetry the moment your lips quivered against mine.

~

You writhed under me and softened and melted until you became water, an ocean with a sun in its heart, and I sank, wholeheartedly.

~

Your eyes, the colour of a dusk sky spilling endless sighs.

~

Your tide swept into my heart and I let go, your waves carrying me ever deeper into the ocean of your soul.

~

I stood before the ocean
as the night waxed thick,
its waves, dark & tremendous,
singing your name,
between my ribs a hymn
to your absence.

~

From the moon’s silver rays
I forged you like a blade
then I plunged you into me,
grew you from my earth,
a tree swaying
on my endless shore

~

Mine, he whispers ~ Yours, she sighs.

~

Like a ripe fig
I take your mouth in mine,
breaking it open,
releasing from between
its full crimson lips
its endless tide of stars.

~

Hearing your voice, all the waiting stars are melted into the sun.

~

At dawn your breath entered the stillness of my heart and I became a garden exhaling the fragrance of your ecstasy.

~

With poetry for scythe
And crescent moon
Like blades of wheat
I shall reap your sighs,
Make sacred the bread
For our feasts and nights.

~

…and her hair wept like a willow over my face and chest, searing me with her jasmine scented tears.

~

I held you in my arms
like the sky holds the stars,
like the great ocean is held
by the earth’s gentle love.

~

…and the tall trees swayed like poems under the breezing gaze of her oceanic eyes.

~

I reached the highest summit
and there you stretched,
under me,
above me,
inside of me,
a tune dissolving me
into the sailing clouds.

~

Like two birds we sing to each other,
and our songs echo to and fro
over oceans, mountains, and valleys,
through the eternal hallways of time.

~

I wanted to write her into existence
and for that she had to invade every fiber of my soul,
imbue my essence with her scent.

~

Slowly,
under the steady warmth of my touch,
your pale skin ripened into a fragrant red,
its pulp pulsating lush and deep
with the sweetest honeydrops and hymns.
