A lifetime of Longing

Longer than memory can retain, I,
A sailor whose ship is poetry’s sky,
Through the ocean of love have sailed in quest
For the homeland where her smile is the nest,
A sun whirling in the welkin up high,
A full moon flowing her cool, tender sigh,
Cradling the nameless longing in me,
Rooting me in her, mighty as a tree.
