Free Verse # 242 (infernal honey)

I went fishing for the moon in the lake of her fragrant silence, but, instead, I got caught on the hook baited by her eyes.

~

As two waves they met,
Colliding with such fury
That their very breaths
Burned into a lightning
Incinerating their flesh.

~

His fingers
Rivers of stars
Combing her dark hair,
Softening them into a poem
Aflare in the night.

~

Twilight,
Wounded silence
Bleeding from the eaves.

~

His kiss to her brow fell
A winedrop from the dusk sky;
She closed her eyes
Feeling the warmth
Soak her through,
Plant her like a flower
In the garden of his heart.

~

O Beloved,
Your kiss has left me shaking,
Burning to the core,
Melting away like a candle
Soon to be nothing at all.

~

I am a roaming heartbeat,
A wave through the wilderness surging,
Aching to melt between your ribs,
Pulse once more in your heart,
Come home.

~

I am water thirsting for her lips.

~

For a fragment of her silence I’d sell all my poetry.

~

All night long
You gather in my heart;
At dawn
The owl hoots,
The star falls to the sea,
In me you awaken,
The rising sun,
The song of eternity.

~

On the wall of the night a moth shivering for your flame.

~

He held her like the sky, infinitely gentle, holds the endless stars.

~

Worshipful
His kiss,
His heart
A vessel of passion
Planted in her womb,
There to remain,
Forever.

~

What of wine remains as this kiss
Your heart pours red in mine;
A pledge in the silent hour
Entwines your soul to mine.

~

The sun on her lips a flower
And I a wild butterfly
Thirsting for infernal honey

~

He wanted her to be a poem, not so he could write her, but so that he could live in her and she in him.
