Free Verse # 218 (the moon is almost full)

It has your lips,
The breeze at dawn
Nuzzling against my neck.

~

She is his mythology,
the throbbing core of his poetry,
into his heart the spill of silence
from the blue lips of dawn.

~

I entered the dawn,
the boundless world of silence,
and everything was in motion,
everything was moving
by your eyes’ endless grace.

~

The burning needle
dipped into the inkwell
of his smiles and tears
she tattooed his name
into the folds of her skin,
therein to grow,
therein to swell,
within her to froth
with the force of endless seas.

~

Fluttering against
the nocturnal sky
my homesick heart ponders:
when shall I beat again
in the ocean of your ribs?

~

In the hour before dawn
She imagines him,
Feels him in endless ripples
Shiver below her skin,
And her watery moans
Which rise up to the sky
With the first ray of light
Fall back to the earth,
Tender, cool dewdrops
Lacing the aching skin
Of a trembling world.

~

Patiently
And with boundless love
I nurture the gardens of your cheeks,
When they blossom
I become poetry.

~

Like a poem growing in your womb, the moon is almost full.

On Desire

Red with desire
the moon rises,
each burning light-thread
rippling through my waters
waves of ecstasy,
awakening within
a dawn of sweet silence,
an intoxication blooming
in a heaven of clarity.

Junnaiyd says there is a sobriety that contains all drunkenness, but there is no drunkenness that contains all sobriety. Coleman Barks, Rumi, The Book of Love

Free Verse # 193 (from the eastern sky)

My tongue,
over your primitive soil,
a flesh-cloud
bursting with fiery rain,
each droplet inscribing
a ripple of ecstasy.

~

The oceans of joy
In a grain of pure sadness,
Inside a dark thorn
The white garden of dawn.

~

Your love
like solar blood
flows through my veins,
pumping through my heart
the thunder of your voice,
bolts of poetry.

~

I open and embrace you
as the sky embraces the sun
after a long night,
thus I become your song,
the effulgence of your sight.

~

Blossoming
the tree transfigures the garden
as you, in my heart,
birth me as pure light.

~

Permeating the air
the nectar of your skin;
the sun, the moon,
and all the stars
at the bank of heaven
stoop down to drink.

~

Her skin,
the gauze silk of the moon
draping the whole sky.

~

Your ineffable breath
overtakes me
as though I were
a dawn flower,
then I blossom,
then I sigh,
my passionate nectar
smearing the whole sky.

~

Into the mist
and over the endless sea
my poems
a pilgrimage of birds
thirsty for the flesh
of your eternity.

~

Heady from gazing at the stars,
Each, in your skin,
A freckled poème.

~

All the lights twinkling
Over the far away hills,
Stars unfolding
In the wells of your eyes.

~

From the eastern sky
it spills,
the voice of dawn,
gentle and serene,
awakening the garden
sleeping amid the hills.

Free Verse # 189 (dissolved)

Void of our kiss
my lips are a desert
aching for a droplet
of your heavenly wine

~

The ocean-womb
to the sun of my longing;
at dusk I drown in you,
sink deep in the night of your flesh,
then our passionate lovemaking
spells me,
a dawn unto the world.

~

Sober ecstasy,
a droplet dissolved
in the flesh of your earth,
an ocean in the pull
of your cosmic gravity.

~

Like a garden in spring
at the touch of your breath
I grow myriad tongues,
all red and green and singing
the tides of your poetry.

~

With unbearable gentleness
I approached her
as if she were a dawn
about to vanish,
and the light
which her eyes spilled
soaked into my earth
nourishing the depth of my heart,
filling me with a love so pure
I dissolved into light.

Free Verse # 188 (I walk in her light)

It’s raining
And it feels like my hands
Are caressing your skin,
Pooling heaven’s waters
In the womb of your earth.

~

I walk in your light,
dissolved like a cloud
in the mouth of dawn.

~

I sway to the rhythm of the stars
burning like fireflies
in the firmament of your eyes

~

You kiss me
And like summer’s dry earth
At the touch of rain
My scent fills the sky

~

Dawn
like furrows of stars
ever trails
at the hem of her dress,
she is eternity
walking through the world,
reaping its flowers
into a wreath around her head.

Free Verse # 187 (her eyes)

Like the sun and the endless sea
I carry you inside of me

~

Poetry?—A submersion in the language of her eyes.

~

Contemplating her face
the moon becomes a grape,
red and full,
aching to be pressed
and flood the sky with wine.

~

You kiss me
and I become
the invisible water
bursting through
the seams of existence,
the hidden thread
weaving all its stars.

~

Her eyes
an inexhaustible fountain,
its halcyon music
like raindrops in the heart
falling,
washing through our soul
with dawn’s white wine.

Uplifted

I gaze in your eyes
and upon my face I feel
the salty drizzle of the waves,
in my soul their rhythm,
now roaring, now smooth,
carrying me into you.

~

Unknown Artist, Dawn
Unknown Artist, Dawn

Like a sea of stars
I ripple through your body,
each wave upon your lips
bursting like a dark fig,
a ripe moan melting
into a warm prayer
arching your back
and from your womb rising,
a birdsong welcoming the dawn.

Free Verse # 142 (be my wine)

Be my wine…
The cradle of my passion…

~

In your presence
I am a white lotus
embracing the dawn sky,
open to your silence
as it flows through my heart.

~

Our simple touch is charged
with all the blossoms of the world…

~

In the silence of the night
our hearts awaken
and pulsing deep
pour their wine
in rivers flowing
through the infinite stars

~

What is love if not this:
to be known
to the fullness of one’s heart
and from there to overflow
like a stream in the  dawn sky.

~

My touch
lapped around your neck
like dawn’s warm breath,
and your face blossomed,
a white flower
greeting the rising sun.

~

I plant love
in endless kisses
in the palms of your hands.
You then raise them
and lo!
the sky pales,
dawn breaks.

~

There’s a kiss
that’s been written
in my heart.
It will unfurl only
for you.

~

Tender,
like the silent wave of dawn,
let my heart carry you
onto the shore
where our souls and bodies
shall merge and tangle…
…forever one.

~

In the vastness of the night
I whisper to the silence of your absence
and my heart pulses with a beat
older than the stars

~

I am a forest of stars
waiting for your naked feet
to press over my grass,
for your warm breath
to enliven my bosom,
make glow my heart…

~

Harden, O heart,
and let your froth scatter
on the night’s shores
as endless waves of stars.

~

Like a predator’s teeth,
the farther I move from you
the deeper you sink…

~

…and my arms long to cradle you
like the rosy lips of dawn.

~

With my pure tears
let me wash your feet;
with my heart’s dawn
let me scent your hair;
and with my burning lips
let me set your body
aflame with a kiss.

~

Would that I were a crystalline stream
coursing amid your white hills and curves
as amid lush gardens of flowers and milk.

~

Like the sun itself,
like the whole world,
each dawn our love is born anew.
